Morning all, have a question about egg colour variation  :blink:

My 5 girls basicall lay the same colour eggs but recentley they seem to be getting lighter and lighter and the yolks also seem to be getting paler aswell. Any reason ?

I've got a copper Maran who is supposed to lay smallish speckled eggs, which she more or less did until a few months ago and now the are always large and plain light brown.  Can anyone suggest why and how I can get the eggs to be the meant-to-be colour and size?

I get different shades of eggs all the time! I have a nearly white one layed in the morning but this varies from white to pink and then the other two eggs are sometimes brown and sometimes light brown  :blink:

They are pullets but they have the same diet so who knows?

I have been told that the older a hen becomes the lighter coulour of egg she will lay.

Don't know how true that really is but our S/L Wyandotte use to lay a lovely tinted egg and now she is 5 yrs old the egg she lays is pure white..................that is, when she does lay!
