Thompson and Morgan. Cherrola Tomatoes-UPDATE
« on: March 15, 2009, 14:39 »
I sowed 6 Cherrola tomatoes from T+M on March 7th in  the heated propagator in the office along with several other tomatoe varieties.

I got nearly 100 % germination from the Wilkinsons and Johnsons tomatoes 3-4 days later. Now 8 days have passed and still only 2 out of 6 have germinated of the cherrola ones. I've taken them out of the propagtor and onto the windowsill and still no signs of germination.

There were only 10 seeds in a pack for £2.99.

Am I right to complain about the germination rate ? Will I get another pack or money back ?

Thanks

You will probably need to wait a few days longer, before you complain. But there has to be a minimum germination rate so chances are they will give you a new packet or possibly a credit.
He who asks is a fool for five minutes, but he who does not ask remains a fool forever.

With your others for comparison your case is good. I am sure that they will just replace them anyway. Email is cheaper than a phone call.

I phoned to complain today about theese and they were rude and kept me waiting for 10 minuites. But in the end they just said "I'll chuck another pack in the posts for ya" so there we go seeds on theit way and I think they though I was tight in complaining but I paid for them and they should be right.

T&M are usually really good about that sort of thing. (I think 10days is a little quick to be writing the packet off for poor germination though)

I had terrible problems with their comfrey seeds - emailed them and they sent out a new packet by return.... didn't help though only got 6 seeds germinate out of the 2 packets.

I myself got a little bit miffed with the standard of seed from T&M after 10 days nowt showing in heated greenhouse however just to sum up i looked today and full germination it took 18 days so dont dispair the bit of warmer weather and sun has bought my on brill so give another few days.

Hi

I have had problems with T&M, now given up.

Posted this today, see message 13

Been using premier seeds direct, much better and cheaper.

Comfrey seeds can be difficult to get to germinate, I find a good rub with  fine sand paper helps a lot  ;)
