Can anyone help to gain access to the points on my Flymo DM?. I'm sure I read a post on here about a year ago when I reset the points gap.
Now I want to replace the points but I can't find the info I need for love nor money!

The points are underneath the flywheel, in a little aluminium cover.
depending on which engine you have, you remove the engine casing ( four bolts),then the air filter screen, them the centre nut or recoil starter mechanism ( standard thread ) if you have the engine with the recoil mech, once it's removed, be very careful not to damage the shaft in anyway. If you do, you will have trouble fitting the starter mech back on.
To remove the flywheel, you should have the correct puller, failing that, a tap on the side of it with a soft faced hammer (rawhide or similar) will usually loosen it. The flywheel is keyed onto the crakshaft with an alluminium key, and the crank is t tapered shaft.
you should now see the points cover. undo this (two screws 4ba) and lift of the cover to reveal the points/ condensor set. the gap is 20 thou (according to briggs) but I usually set them up to 18 thou to compensate for the engines *ahem*  "vintage"
