Blackcurrants and gooseberries
« on: March 14, 2009, 20:34 »
Hi, a few weeks ago I took some cuttings from my blackcurrants and gooseberries.
I put them in pots in my mini greenhouse. They are bursting into leaf now.
Does that mean they are rooting? and when should I plant them out?
would it be too soon to do it now?
Thanks

Too soon IMHO, give them a few more weeks at this point it's a balance between making leaf  growth compared to how much roots they may or may not have.
In a few weeks time give the survivor a gentle pull upwards to see if you can feel any resistance if so they have started to root. Then think about hardening them off over a week or so.
He who asks is a fool for five minutes, but he who does not ask remains a fool forever.
