Planting this weekend!??
« on: March 13, 2009, 19:15 »
Just thought i would start a thread about what we all planning on planting this weekend if anything?

Im planning on my early carrots, maybe some spring onions just for a test really , still holding out on my potatoes (even tho lots ppl on my site got em in now) , maybe early peas under cloche's

Anyone else??
I'm very important. I have many leather-bound books and my apartment smells of rich mahogany.

Nothing on the lotty yet, but my son and I are having a marathon pot sowing session tomorrow for all his stuff, herbs, flowers, and all his veg. He asked me if HE could sow the seeds with a little bit of help - translated to 'Mum? Butt out as much as you can eh?'
I think Ill do some carrots and lettuces in containers,Ive got me fleece ready
"I think the carrot infinitely more fascinating than the geranium. The carrot has mystery. Flowers are essentially tarts. Prostitutes for the bees. There is, you'll agree, a certain je ne sais quoi oh so very special about a firm young carrot" Withnail and I

hopefully the old fellas down the allottment have got round to dishing out the onion sets and seed spuds, if they have the onions will be going in, and I can start chitting my spuds.  Other than that I have plenty of preperation to be getting on with, including my first attempt at a munty bean frame.

Going to go for first lot of early spuds, rocket and swift, did ok last year and got a great late crop as we could not eat em fast enough. More peas and beans to go in plus some onions and challottes with the fleece ready if things start to turn iffy.

Cheers,

I need to get my soft fruit planted ASAP. Then shallots and onion sets. Then I really need to get going on seed sowing!
I demand the right to buy seed of varieties that are not "distinct, uniform and stable".

My Howard rotovator arrived back from its service (1st ever) so it's off to the plot to play. :)

I'm hoping to plant out broad beans from the coldframe and transplant some raspberry canes that have sat in the back garden siince they arrived.

I've also got some onion sets that are going in... a row of gladioli might make it down there too if I have time.  :)
