[staffschicks]

I have read somewhere that too many sunflower seed are bad for chickens because they damage the kidneys.  Does anyone know if this is true and if so why?

I know they're quite high in fat staffschicks. If they put on too much weight, I think the system can become overloaded.

But just looked up kidney failure and apparently excess calcium in young birds or excess protein can cause it.
