i 'm a noob to growing my own veg & fruit.
but moved into a new house at xmass with a nice sizable south facing back garden.
i'm going to start with potatoes,onions,toms,carrots & chillie peppers.
gonna start in pots this year as the garden is well over grown & the ground need preparing.
but would also like to have a go at some strawberrys so would like to know what variety to go for & easiest to bring on being new to growing.

I think most varieties need the same sort of care.  Go for ones that claim to be resistant to mildew and viruses.  Or go for whatever you can get cheaply, so long as it's good quality, virus free stock.

Why not have a study of the books and try some different varieties - earlies, mid-season and lates, plus an everbearer like Aromel. Taste varies between varieties and some are more resistant to disease than others - depends on what you like and also with your soil and feeding regime. You can always propagate the ones you like for next year and build up your stock as long as they are healthy runners.
