Eating feathers
« on: March 02, 2009, 19:05 »
Please can the forum remind me why chickens eat feathers. They are not pecking any out they are eating loose feathers and the duck feathers.

My chicks are ex-bats remember.

Are they lacking in something should I give then something special.

Hi, I understand it can be for the protein.

it is often protein, but if they're ex-batts, they're probably also doing it because they're curious.

Make sure your food has at least 16-19% protein in the mix and you should be fine.
