I've just deleted the spam poster and banned him and his IP address - I have also complained to the BBC about him and his TV company.

It's bad enpough with russians without TV companies

Actually no, it's an interesting program about allotments - I object strongly to someone who registers on here just to post an advert. And a pretty badly put one as well.

Maybe it's my age, but the lack of politeness and ethics gets me cross. You expect it of the semi-criminal types who were spamming but not of companies associated with the BBC.

I just made an official complaint to them about it.

Sorry Stompy, I should take a cuppa before posting sometimes.

The Big Dig was a program that is either being re-run or repeated on BBC2 about allotmenteering.

I wouldn't mind a sensible post from them about it - I object to a quick throw out advert in block capitals. It shows a lack of respect for everyone on here.

I have offered free advertising to some sites where I think they are genuine and it would be of interest to visitors here. Hope that makes some sort of sense

Silly me, being from New England in the US, I always thought The Big Dig was that massive construction project in the center of Boston, Massachusettes.
wistfully hoping to one day be mostly organic gardener in North London.

So are you a reformed revolting colonist being as you are back in the mother country?Heather_S  :)

And how do you explain allotments to your fellow Americans - they always seem to think I'm making it up or something. Did hear on the radio about some Americans on a train who looked out and noticed some allotments. One commented to the other that the Brits were subsistence farmers - that puts us in our place :)

Stompy, there are few bad dogs but many bad owners.

I had a dog owner let his dog off the leash and send it up our drive to get my cat. The dog lost an eye to the cat and the owner nearly lost his life. First and only time I have ever been near ending up doing life.

You want to see how lots of the locals treat their animals here in rural Spain John!  And it´s not just the locals who let their dogs out to roam, Brits do too, they wouldn´t do that if they lived in the UK.  One BIG dog from up the road often comes and leaves us a nice ´gift´ by theh corner of our step.... one day I will bag it up and post it back through their letter box on the wall! :x

Tell me about it - we're running a geriatric cats home here.  I just had batter, chips and mushy peas for tea.  The cat had fish.

I like dogs as well but they take more looking after than cats and introducing a dog to the cat's home would not be easy.

We had a dog to look after for a few days many years back - owner was in hospital. The poor dog was beaten up by the cat. We got the dog a bone from the butcher, heard all this growling and it was the cat dragging off the bone growling at the dog.

Strangely, when the dog was gone, the cat really missed him and cried by the door for him.

I can't remember seeing the big dig before but I bet it concentrates on interesting "characters" and not useful stuff about how to actually grow things.
I can't understand why they don't do a programme about fierce but loveable cats...
Self-sufficient in rasberries and bindweed. Slug pellets can be handy.
