Merry Tiller - cultivator tines
« on: February 25, 2009, 13:48 »
Hi folks,

I have a bar and tines similar to the ones in this pic - Link

(not the hoe part).

Bit of a green question here -

In general when do you use them / under what circumstances?
(the tiller and accessories were left to me when we got the house).

I'd appreciate any advice at all,

Thanks

MM

I have a similar set up. I use the "L" shaped hoes for weeding. the pointy bits are for cultivating but I have not had much success with them.
always have a target
and an objective.

Cheers Frankie, I appreciate that.    I only have a small patch at the moment but maybe when I expand it it'll be of use then.
Thanks again

I have an old Merry Tiller Major and had a similar cultivator from a previous Templar Tiller. The cultivator should only be used on fairly dry soil (to be honest, I don't see a lot of advantage with using the cultivator). I have since added a Mantis Electric Tiller to the machinery range and seldom use the Merry Tiller now.

I reckoned my ground would be too heavy and wet for it, so at least I was thinking along the right lines.

Thanks folks!

Ps  Thanks for tidying up that link Aunt Sally, I hadn't realised that it had gone skewith and was causing folk problems
