Our clay land is still too wet, although my neighbour was digging out a trench for foul drains today and the land was dryer than I thought it would be. But that was through an orchard, no doubt the trees were sucking up the water. He is going to cut out another trench for land drains along side my boundary which should help drain my land as well.

My plot drains v.well as it is sandy.I did some digging yesterday and the soil was cold but v.workable... itching to use my, new to me, 2 stroke mantis - I'm awaiting its delivery from a fellow member off the "swap shop". He's dropping it off his lorry when he's next passing..... in exchange for a roll of chicken wire and 60 willow cuttings :)

I am going on mine later in week - weather been dry for about a week or so and no amounts forecast here - so here's hoping.

Finally done it!!!!  Rotovated one big bed and two smaller beds today, absolutely fantastic bit of kit, easy to use, easy to start, easy to clean, and suddenly our allotment is a lot less daunting!!!! Took about half tank of fuel, and I'm sure it'll be even cheaper to run once I get the hang of the throttle (which is my shortcoming, not the Mantis). Even got the missus to have a go!!!

Highly recommended.   :D :D :D
