Hi all, has anyone had any experience with a compost tumble i.e. do they work?

I have one, stole it from my dad who had a brief interest in gardening. It does work and I tend to start off all my compost in it and then move it to a darlek style composter to sit for a few months.

Not sure they are worth the premium price tag tho.

Could you not make one from an old drum cut in half with clasps to fix it back together.

 i see something on allottment tv web site and it took weeks by the sound of it instead of months
