Extending Run - Willow Tree - Will it be OK?
« on: February 15, 2009, 20:37 »
Im looking to extend my run. Smack in the middle is a Willow Tree - a weeper that we got from a Garden Centre. I don't want to cut it down or try to uproot it so there will be some leaves that the chooks will inevitably try to eat.

Anyone know if this might cause any problems. If they are harmful to my chooks then perhaps they will resist the temptation to have a nibble?

Thanks in advance.

It might stop them getting head aches  ;)

Weeping willow is considered non toxic to humans and were just big chickens  ::)

The bark of the willow tree is a source of salycilic acid which is what aspirin is made of.  It was an ancient natural remedy.
Cheese makes everything better.
