hi all

finaly got the welcome pack for our allotment plot  :lol: :) :) :) so the hard work can begin ::)

and even better news is that they are letting people keep chickens and bees
on the plots
i been thinking of keeping bees for years now but didnt want to keep them in the garden
because of my kids but now i can :tongue2:

going up to the plot tomorrow have abit of a tidy up and have a think of the plan of attack :dry:

when i was digging and tidying up i found allsorts of fruit and plants hidden away under the weeds,
i was left with a crop of raspberries canes,lemon balm,blackcurrants,rhubarb and strawberies.
look as you clear
Self-sufficient in rasberries and onions....

Unless you absolutely lurve lemon balm ......rip it out. Self seeds itself like mad, a real weed in my garden >:(

i did its gone,,,,new strawberry patch in its place ,loked preety last summer though in flower

I don't recall lemon balm having very attractive or even noticable flowers. ???  Are you sure it wasn't feverfew? (Lovely bunches of daisy like flowers, the petals are wider though.) IIRC it also has sweet smelling foliage.
I demand the right to buy seed of varieties that are not "distinct, uniform and stable".

Yes it does.........but it's a bu@@er once it has self seeded.

i agree the flowers are not very noticeable......if i had noticed the flowers i could have cut them before the seeds were shed!!
Have now got a rose scented geranium for the pot pourris instead (if i ever get round to making it :lol:)

nope it was lemon balm ,they were tiny yellow flowers.
and look the same flower as on a pcket of seeds gardeners world were giving away in their 10 packets of seeds for £1.99
