Sorry to hear your chicken did not survive Pookey - could i ask how much the vet charged?

The vet charged ten pounds to put her to sleep and take care of her remains.  All in all it cost me 28 pounds.

Well you have at least restored my faith in some vets - my 90 years old auntie was charged £400 for the examination of her 20 year old cat and then  £78 , two weeks later, to have it put down!!!

So sad at the final outcome. 
I know it is pricey, but is it possible to put up an electrified fence to keep the darned hunt away from your property?

You did your best for her and gave her the chance of recovery.  There is always doubt in these situations but we have to take the best advice we can and do the right thing.  I had to have my cat put to sleep 3 weeks ago and it was an agonising decision, but ultimatley the right one.  If you weren't upset, you wouldn't have cared and caring for our animals is the most important thing we can do for them.
