I would normally use the soil within large containers for three years, leaving them open to the elements throughout the winter months. Early spring add some gritsand and Blood Fish & Bone, warm the soil up by placing glass on top of the containers & plant.

Do NOT/NEVER place any manure into the containers or they will fork badly.

I use 1200 x 600 x 750mm high box's and line with plastic sheeting, after planting cover young plants with a mesh , to keep the carrot fly at bay.
