It's All Go!
« on: February 11, 2009, 17:06 »
I am planting my Broad Bean seeds in pots this week to go in the greenhouse, hoping for a nice early crop

Also going to do some leeks in a tray - again hoping for earlies

Potatoes to chit soon (others never did arrive) >:(

Peas to start of in some guttering....

So much to do and it's only mid Feb!!!

I wouldn't rush with the peas.

I sow mine in the open in March/April & they're still ready in June.

If you're too early, they'll just sit there doing nothing until it's warm. The longer they're out, the longer the mice & pigeons have to get to them.

As far as I'm concerned, it's mid February and there's nothing to do. (Apart for digging and I can't!!).
Did it really tell you to do THAT on the packet?

Let's re-wind to topic.

Not even I would contemplate starting peas yet!

its really hard to keep patient at the minute. I want to plant things, get started, but its pretty pointless. i cant even get much digging done as the plot is probably more suitable for bog snorkelling at the minute. i did plant a few chilli seeds in some small pots, and left them on the kitchen windowsill, just to feel like i had done something
trying to be organic

I'm satisfying the urge to mother seedlings with some trays on the windowsill for cut-and-come-again salads.  It doesn't matter if they get a bit leggy!  I have started a few broad beans to put out under cloches, and some of my sweet peas.
