Growing cauiflower and swede
« on: February 11, 2009, 09:49 »
Last year i had a very bad time getting the baove to grow when sown directly into the plot. This year i have sown them in pots in our sun room (room temp). They have all germinated but i am alarmed at the fact that the seedlings are about 5 inches long for both cauli and swede. If i remember correctly when bying these plants in pots they don't generally seems so ......leggy for want of a better expression. Have i done something wrong???
If you do things well, do them better. Be daring, be first, be different, be just.

Too warm!

& Swede are way too early!

I start mine in a greenhouse with only enough heat to keep the frost off.

Swede I won't contemplate until at least April/May.
Did it really tell you to do THAT on the packet?

DD.'s right bedifferent, I'd chuck them away and start again to be honest.

At 5" tall in a heated room?

Sadly I think not. and personally I wouldn't go to the effort of trying.

It's much easier to re-sow, this time somewhere much cooler and much much later as far as the swede are concerned
