minimum perch head height

Hi i am in the process in making my first hen hotel and need to work out height of the nesting box and the minimum head height above the perch . I want to house ex battery /warren hybrids .At the moment it looks like my minimum height would be 14 inches between the perch and the roof as the roof slopes the height does increase .I have allowed 16 inch height in the nesting box does this sound ok?

If you can, I'd think about swopping the measurements around. 14 " would be fine for the nest boxes but you need a bit more space above the perches. Remember, innitially the birds will have to jump up above the perch to get onto it before they settle down for the night. I'd aim for 18" above the perches if possible.

It also allows plenty of height for ventilation without putting them in a draught.
