Just read this great tip for making compost faster. We all know that the larger the content pieces, the longer it takes to break down in the bin. The tip I learned was to buy a 2nd hand blender or food processor (whizzer) and whiz all your kitchen waste before it goes to the bin. This way, it starts to compost almost immediately and very quickly.
I do recommend a 2nd hand one specifically for this job as it can get fairly yukky and the house chef will not appreciate unpalatable items run through the unit.

Thats a good tip to speed up matters, I dont know about its green credentials though, using electricity just to speed up a natural process. Umm

True, but its only for a few seconds, far less than one would run a bathroom fan for instance, decidedly less than an electric lawnmower or hedge trimmer which are frequently in use. An electric kettle uses less electricity than boiling water on the cooker, both of which grossly exceed the few seconds of blender use. It's all a matter of how you equate that green footprint.

I've used "Garotta" compost accelerator before.

Don't know what's in it but it doesn't half speed it up.
