I think you may find that they will all prefer to roost together, maybe think of making a larger house for your new flock in the future. If you had 6 birds say, they would need a minumum henhouse 2foot x 3foot, however I would use a 3x3 henhouse for a little more space. Each hen needs a 1ftsq inside a house.

Thanks again foxy. As soon as I can I am going to carry out your advice. I was discussing this forum with a freind of mine earlier and he told me that I should have said to him before about a henhouse as he is now going to make me one.

Thanks folks for all the advice. Helped me big time. Sorry to be a pain but what about intorducing other brids into the pen/hen house especailly if I introduced and other rooster?

if you introduce another cockerel they will fight unless you get a really young one  (depending on the breed)then you might be OK.
I have a few together in lots of room,sometimes the littleuns try it on with the biguns....

Wahey I got my first egg today, one of the hens must have laid it yesterday as I only found it this morning in the temp hen house they were in up till yesterday. I moved them back to their other house yesterday evening and I found the egg this morning.

After telling friends and family they thought I was nuts getting so excited about an egg. Needless to say none of them keep chickens so they wouldn't understand.
