Roughlee is rebuilding his run with photos if you want to see how to make a Rolls-Royce version. ................

I would not say it is the Rolls-Royce. If that where the case I would have someone else do it.   ???
Dam weather is stopping me as I can not lay concrete.

It is important to keep the food that is out for the chucks dry as wet/fermented/rotting feed is bad for chickens. You have several options build a feed hut/shelter or one of these

We got galvanised steel feeders as my HTB had used plastic ones before and found they weren't as good. I made the mistake of putting pellets on the floor in the snow with the corn and they turned to mush. Yuk  :tongue2: so I'm off now with a rake to clear it all up.

The feeder would just be filled with pellets and the extras can be offered in a separate container (dish, tray, etc) or jsut scattered for them to forage for. If you have peices of timber, logs, etc in the run, you can hide some bits in crevices for them.

But a larger feeder is more practical than one that's only just big enough. We can, at a pinch, get 2 days feed in ours. Though I top up feed and change water every day. It gives a chance to have a tidy up and check everything's ok.

Just put 2.5kg in the feeder in the morning and leave it.  If they eat it replace it. It is not like feeding a cat or dog.  You just give feed to them and leave it out all day and they will eat/snack when they want.
