Hi there, got my hens last Saturday and am totally addicted to the girls. Anyway, one of them is laying eggs with watery whites, can you still eat these? What causes it? (ive already ate one and im still alive!)  Any info would be of great help. :nowink:

Hi
Katie Thear's book 'Starting with Chickens' says that 'watery albumens could be a sign of disease or stress' - if you had as cold easterly winds in Dundee as we did here at the weekend, it may have been that? Or possibly just the chuckie getting older.
I've never worried about eating them - you wouldn't know if you'd boiled it anyway :)

Have you had snow? Mine were not impressed this morning! - nor were the kids there wasn't enuff to stop them going to school :)

Yes we have tons of snow, the girls refuse to come out of their covered run/coop.  My kids have the flu so they are not interested right now in making snowmen, but usually i just keep the kids off when its snowing like this, and spend all day sledging at our local park.  Our dog Jodie, a border collie is trained to haul the sledges back up the steep braes for us.  I love the snow!!

Just spoken to my oldest - at uni in Aberdeen - not much snow there, must be too coastal?  Sounds like a useful collie dog! :D
Hope your kids are better soon and can get out and enjoy themselves
