I've started some of The Sutton under cover to go out under cloches in a bit for a few early beans.  The maincrop will go out once the soil is workable.  I'm leery of trying to overwinter in the ground because we're on cold, wet, clay-loam (the topsoil is nice, if heavy, for one spade's depth, then it's clay!).  I do the same with peas - a few first earlies to cosset, and the rest sown in situ.
