Sounds stupid but when I plant my spuds do I do so with the chits facing up or down?

That question brought back memories.About five years ago i asked my late father the exact same question.
I'm sure he is still laughing as i thought the chits were the roots

The question is does it matter? Dad never used to worry and I cant see the farmers checking to make sure they are not upside down and growing in Oz
