Are my seeds dead?
« on: January 23, 2009, 09:31 »
Hello, I bought some seeds from ebay. When they arrived someone at home put the envelope on the radiator. The radiator was on for 5 hrs, before I came home and removed the envelope. The radiator was very hot and so were the envelope and seed packets. Are the seeds still alive or have they been cooked? The seeds were squashes and a packet of very small flower seeds. Much appreciate your advice.

It is impossible to say until you try to germinate them; although you are quite right to suspect some may be damaged.

I have made similar blunders in the past of keeping seeds too close to a heat source and consequently boiling them (to death).
