do all currents and berry canes not fruit until the second year?
if some do fruit in the same year, which type?
how come Wilkinson are selling canes at £1,2,3 pounds what’s the difference between these canes?
and how much fruit can i expect from each plant?

i think the price varies due to the size of the bush/cane. the £1 value ones are smaller than the £2 etc.

Cheaper varieties also may not be "named" so pot luck as to what you get,

Ive bought some rubarb and that says on the label leave the crop this yr

could i not take a lil bit if there is some?

And for my raspberry canes from homebase theres hardly any root structure going on, im a bit worried to be honest about em.
I'm very important. I have many leather-bound books and my apartment smells of rich mahogany.

I'd not take any this year feed it lots of lovely manure and it'll pay you back next.  :D

As for the rasp's, it's quite normal for them to come with just a few thickish roots on, esp if there being sold as bare root.
If they are potted and with very little root structure, it's probable that they are just bare rooted any way and have been bunged in a pot to charge you more

Technically you should remove all the flowers off them and let them get on with growing roots and shoots. But a lot of people don't and have a small crop.
If they are early ones they will fruit on the cane that you get, if they are the autumn type then you'll get a few fruit off the new canes that appear.  Don't expect a massive crop this year but you should get a few. :)
