New comer needs help to remove grass from plot
« on: March 04, 2007, 22:42 »
Can you tell me the best way to get the grass off my new allotment before digging over the ground. Is there any better way then breaking your back, organically of course.  :?

Hi samjam, have a look through this thread http://www.chat.allotment-garden.org/viewtopic.php?t=2833 which describes two basic methods.   Feel free to post specific questions if you have any.

I've nothing against trenching the stuff, believe me.  I'd do it that way unless I was planning to follow it with organic potatoes (eelworm), which samjam probably is.

Fatgaz, in the other thread, had explicitly asked how to make loam from turf.  Hence http://www.chat.allotment-garden.org/viewtopic.php?p=30338#30338
