How long is your rod
« on: March 04, 2007, 22:02 »
I have just gained my first allotment and am told it is 7 rods long by 3 rods across, which i have mixed messages of the exact measurement, can someone please enlighten me to how long an OFFICIAL rod is. Or is there a better way.

All this jargon gives me headache

A rod, pole or peck is 16.5 feet.  4 rods = 1 chain.  I know 'cos I'm old. :D

Dunno - just a lucky guess but you have shown a fair degree of interest in Ice Hockey players in other threads.  Your secret is safe with me.

Ooh err WG, they're a bit young for me as I watch junior players mostly.  But, on the other hand, now the boy is playing for the senior team, things have taken a turn for the better.

Years ago when market gardening we had a green house 100'x35' which was bigger than our first allotment. :? I think a "rod" varys over  the country its not covered by BS or ISO.

Mine's 5 rods which the council say is 125 sqm. But it's bigger than that, must have stretched in the rain..
Self-sufficient in rasberries and bindweed. Slug pellets can be handy.
