Hi,

Just bought some seed potato today at my local agricultural store. I just got first early today as its too early for maincrop and I don't bother with second early   Theyr are unwins and I had 2 2.5kg bags for £7.98- Sharpes Express and Homeguard.

Anyway I have bought them home and I just want to check is it ok too leave them like this.

They are in a cold garage mostly dark but I've wrapped them in some old towels too make sure no light get in.

Will they be fine to store like this until February 1st then I want  to start chitting.
Thanks

Mine are in cardboard box in the outside loo, so pretty similar to yours.

You must be sure it's frost free or they'll turn to mush

It does not matter whether they are in light or dark so long as they are kept cool until you want to start chitting. I would be inclined to remove the towell as it might encourage mould.

Cool and bright garddwr.  Not warm !

You want them to grow their chits slowly so they are short, strong and dark green/mauve.  If you have them too warm they will grow long and white and very thin. No use at all !
