chicken poo on veg patch
« on: January 11, 2009, 23:01 »
I'm wondering what's the best thing to do with chicken poo at this time of year - usually when I clean the henhouse out, I put the poo and straw in the compost bin.

But I was wondering, should I spread it on the veg beds I'm currently digging, like muck spreading; or should I dig it in; or should I just carry on putting it in with the compost? I'm digging some new ground to extend the veg plot, as well as digging over my established veg plot

Thanks for any advice!

I'd put it in the compo and let it blend in for at least six months.
It may be a bit 'high-strength' for putting directly on the veg patch.
The successes and failures of each year keep me motivated for the following year.
