Gorgeous video Vember! How happy your ducks look :D  I am very interested in how you manage to keep some grass around the paddling pool? At the moment mine have a huge run -and only a small but deep tray, all the grass around the tray has gone and very muddy -although the run is OK. the mud has now turned to ice and the poor things were skating on it

It was filmed in september "ish" lacking in the grass department now :(
About twice a year I sprinkle a good layer of shell & grit round the outside.
That way I know they're getting it and it makes it look a bit less like a mud pool

Can I ask a really, really, really silly question????
Do ducks eat fish????  I know, stupid question.  But I have a fairly large fish pond, and we talked about getting some ducks, but could not decide if they would eat the fish.  The local heron takes much delight in eating the fish and wondered if ducks would eat them as well.

Mine eat anything they can get hold of so I strongly suspect if you get ducks the fish won't last long at all! I think if you have a really large pond that is relatively deep so the fish can hide at the bottom then they might be able to co-exist. Wouldn't hold my breath though!
Be like a duck. Calm on the surface but always paddling like the dickens underneath.

Found a link about Pikes eating ducklings but couldn't find anything definitive regarding ducks eating fish.

I would imagine a chicken would eat one if it landed in front of it.

I know I would. :)

At one of the hospitals I worked at there was this amazing framed X-ray of a huge pike that one of the radiologists had caught and x-rayed for some reason. In it was a full skeleton of a duck!

hmm perhaps we will give the ducks a miss for the time being.  Think we will let the fish get a bit bigger first.
Thanks for all the advise though.
