Yes I have learnt from alot of experience. I have about 500 birds here of many different breeds and when you bring new birds in they can bring all sorts of different problems.

Its quite scary when you first start out but you will soon pick up on all these things to look out for.

I need to do my coop, but how the flippin' heck can you get it dry in this weather :evil: Especially when the girls are under the weather too.......it needs to be bone dry. Any ideas???

i am with u on that one mumsy but i am going to use a very fine mist sprayer for the time being and just do my best to keep on top of things until the spring suppose there isnt much else i can do.

Could you get a hairdryer out to it or very, very carefully with a parrafin lamp or small greenhouse heater ?

Or towel it dry and get it as close to dry as you can. I think if you can use really hot water, it should evaporate to some degree.

It is very difficult in this weather -I use Stalosan F a dry powder disinfectant that I have underneath their bedding -to help kill off any bacteria,viruses and fungi lurking.

I use a garden sprayer to do the inside of the sheds, as long as you don't soak it and then put nice dry bedding in the chickens should be fine.

Another little tip I can share is a product called Van-vermine-ex 11500, you can get it on the internet and is great for red mite, lice etc.. you put some drops in the shed before you put the chickens to bed. The vapour from the product kills all bugs in the shed and on the chickens. It is used mainly for pigeons. Great product as is much easier that trying to get a powder product into all the cracks etc..

I know that product is produced for pigeons but can you state if it is licenced for poultry please. We need to give that type of information here (legal reasons) on all the products recommended.
