New venture please can someone advise!!

Hi there, I wonder if anyone can help me, I would like to buy some table birds, but don't know where to buy them from, I had lots of cockerels after a hatching spree last sumer and having never reared birds for meat was a bit dubious about going down this track :? but I have recovered from the ordeal now and would like to try some birds bred for meat. I only want to buy 25 chicks, or maybe hatching eggs if there are any available, and thought if this was sucessful I might try a few turkeys for Christmas next year, can anyone give me some advice, cheers Fran

Hi Fran, We use Simon at Poulet Anglais. Although he is in Lincolnshire, he can deliver, both day olds and hatching eggs, give him a call on 01790 763066 or 07787 533325

I can also vouch for Simon as we have had lots of the Hubbard’s from him as day olds.

If you discuss your needs with Simon he will guide you. Our Hubbards weigh in anything from 6lbs to 10lbs at about 12 wks.

you could also try the auction mart at Thirsk which has a poultry sale once a month. Its a good excuse for a nose around and you can make contacts and learn things by talking to people. Also good to see what the breed look like in the flesh - or so to speak!! i don't know if there is a mart nearer to you that would offer the same.

Thanks! Thirsk isn't too far from me, that would be a good option, although I'm a bit dangerous at auction marts I usually end up buying something I shouldn't!
