Very cool CQ

I can ask all the questions now can't I

I love the chooks what breed are they?  How do you like the Eglu? Easy to set up?

Never seen on from that angle before it looks huge .

Still making my mind up I'm outside their delivery area for chooks so I'll have to source locally.

Have fun and lets see loads more pics

I set it up on my own. The Eglu arrives in two huge parcels so that was a bit of a faff on its own  :D   It says it should take 45 mins to put up but it took me about two hours on my own. I found the run clips extremely fiddly and they really hurt your fingers after a while.  I did resort to using a few tie wraps.

I got the chooks locally, not from Omlet so the birds only had a short car ride to get here, plus I got all the bits and bobs from them too, eg feed, Aubiose bedding, etc  :D

forum newbie here... hello everyone!

These were my girls when I first got them at the end of last summer... I built the coop and run which is fox-secure from recycled materials, but they spend most of their days pecking round the garden.

We had one fox incident last year which resulted in one of them coming to live in a cage in the front room until fully re-coop-erated

They were ex-barn chooks (barn-fresh, what a joke)... covered in lice, balding patches, broken beaks, missing toes, flat grey combs and sores... are all twice the size now, feather-filled, lice free and ordinarily I get the hugest looking eggs from them... but I haven't had one since a rather nasty thunder and lightening storm a few days ago  :(

will post a pic of them looking healthy when I get my camera back.

Oh well done you for rescuing those lovely ladies!!!!  Probably their beaks weren't broken, but trimmed!!!!! Supposed to stop them pecking each other, but doesn't always work!!!!!!

My lovely ladies!
I've never kept chickens before and I just love it. They're really rewarding aren't they!

Does anyone have a clue as to what these are? I know they're a mixture and I've been told Orpington? and something red?

Maude and Mabel

Mabel and Millicent ( Mathilda is out of shot!)

Out of the four of them Maude and Mathilda have just started laying.

The one in the middle with the lovely golden neck (Maude?) looks very much like Jean my Welsummer - though Jean is brown where yours is black, so maybe a Welsummer x with something else?  With Welsummers the eggs are brown but the colour is 'overlaid' (so to speak) as the egg is laid so it can be rubbed off while the egg is still warm.

The others look just like my Celia - I was told she was a Black Rock Hybrid, though I know there's a bit of fuss about Black Rocks that aren't really Black Rocks ... I don't mind, she lays beautiful large white eggs and is very pretty with her petrol blue highlights  :)
Nobody said this was going to be easy ... but some days are better than others!
