I am thinking of making a potato/carrot lifter attachment for my Howard 700, does anyone have any experience or photographs on the subject to give me a head start please, regards Jimmy

I made one last year for my honda great bit of kit pic is on the gallery. Only took half a day. Your 700 should pull it with ease.
Have a look then we will have a chat.
always have a target

i am doing a welding course at the moment. so MK11 should be better. I got a foot from the farm supplies. On a tractor the foot would be on a chiseler or if your posh a cultivator.

I have a copy of the Howard Universal Hitch and Toolframe for the 700 and it has exploded drawings of all the attachments including the potato lifter. Unfortunately I am off to France tomorrow for 5 weeks but if you want a copy I can arrange it when I get back. I would be interested to know if you have a universal hitch or a home made one for your 700. I am trying to find one for my 700 as I have a single furrow plough I want to try on it.         Best of luck.          Ian

I have been thinking about when i used mine. Depth control or adjustment is needed. Also the tines need to be a bit wider and steeper than mine. Although it lifted virtually all the spuds with a couple of passes.
Try not to make it to sharp. Or it will cut the spuds. I will be interested in your pics.

does the spud lifter run direct centre behind your machine frankie, the reason i ask is how do you cope traveling down the ridges or does your wheels straddle them,
the same question for a ridger i can see it doing it once but after that it must get a bit awkward cus the wheels will be riding on your ridges if you know what i mean  :?
feed the soil not the plants
organicish
you learn gardening by making mistakes

Thanks for all your help chaps, went out and bought a foot from the agricultural suppliers this morning and got a start this evening, will post pics when its all tried. Another point of interest, I tried lifting carrots with a plough behind my 700 it actually worked but I couldnt keep the damned thing straight (ended up with a lot more carrots because some of them were cut in half) how do you manage when you plough your whole allotment?
