Its not about just height with Carrot Fly

Or else how would they get over walls etc

What it is about is the lack of manoueverability once sufficiently airborne

So you need to have a barrier that is all around your carrots so that the fly cannot get back down before the barrier on the far side....

IE a 24" fleece barrier around your plot would not work but a 24" barrier around a couple of rows on your plot would fair better

Thanks so much for posting that, I had been thinking about 'fencing off' a couple of beds (4footers) together to save on fleece, but that's clearly not going to work.
Would 4ft be too far apart even?
How about if the barrier is 5ft high?

I have only ever seen about 2' block and 2' high to be honest.. I think a 5' around a 4' is probably a tad overkill.. might just be easier to get some blue pipe and put some mesh over the top

  Brilliant! :thumleft:
I saw some archive footage shown a few weeks back of Geoff Hamilton making a mini polytunnel with blue pipe but had completely forgotten about it.
I demand the right to buy seed of varieties that are not "distinct, uniform and stable".
