How to "Scare" Carrion Crows
« on: December 10, 2008, 14:56 »
Apart from shooting which I do not have time for before I leave for my honeymoon (early Tuesday morning)
I need to keep Carrion Crows away from my feeder.  It is in the middle of an open field and at the moment I am feeding more crow than chickens.

I was going to attach a carrier bag to a post and place the post near the feeder  and hope that would keep them away.  But as I have very little time to experiment can anyone give me some expert pointers.
Stuart

Dont worry I am just paranoid duckie.

If I get the wrong end of the stick its because I have speed read. Honest.

Blar blar blar blar snorrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrre.

Last night I put out a couple of eltric fence poles and tide bailing twine and a couple of booths supermarket (good supermarket local produce for local people) plastic bags to the poles.  The poles are 3ft white (no green left)

something like this but with out the side support.  Anyway the point is this morning no crows NONE.  Yesterday the crows out numbered my chickens by two to one now none.  Yippee for low teck.

Which colour Booths bag?
Do you think they would work on Starlings? - delightful critters have the added habit of s****ing in the feeder

Hope you both have a fabulous day and wonderful honeymoon :D

We have a crow problem too, if the "girls" are still around one of them will run at the crows and scare them off but if they are further afield the crows tuck in!

I'll gather a couple of my remaining carrier bags (a nearly extinct object)

I used the yellow strip for one and a purple strip for the other.
