The potato saga...
« on: November 25, 2008, 10:34 »
Having apparently lost my planned crop of Christmas new potatoes to frost a few weeks ago, I've just dug up some out of interest to find that they're still there, albeit with a little slug damage. The haulms have gone pretty much completely. Should I:

a) leave them in and hope they'll still be there at Christmas

b) dig them up and eat them now

c) or leave them in to sprout as per seed potatoes?

They are Carlingford.
Growing salad leaves isn't rocket science.

The potatoes will keep until Christmas but it might be worth pulling them up and storing them somewhere cool and dark and away from the slugs.

Thanks for that. I'll have a prod at the weekend.

Could I maybe put them in a clamp - ie covered in a mound of soil?
