if my wonderful neighbour was still living here in this very cold dull country i am sure he would of helped but hes no longer around  so i think i shall wait for daylight and double dose if i have to    .

Sorry to say that your chickens have a viral infection.  Only anti-biotics from your vet will put this right.  Not all will survive this as they get very weak.  Went through this myself a while back after putting in 4 new hens.  Two long courses of anti-biotics later 3 dead older hens, two poorly cockrels and a big vet bill.  Good luck with this and the sooner you start treatment the better!
