Hello everyone this chilly morning (worse to come...just heard w/e forcast :cry: )
Am still trying to find space for another bed in the garden. The only place i can think would work is nearer the house so is in the shade until lunchtime. The bed would run north to south.

The question is, do you think a row of runner beans would grow here with any success?

O and is it just me or are runner bean seeds getting smaller? I thought i'd try the new pink Celebration ones and the seed is quite a lot smaller :shock:  than the ones I save myself from scarlet emperor

I think they should be fine...not everyone has a south-facing garden!

I have several beds running N/S (and with a N facing slope), they are shaded by sycamores until lunchtime. Not quite as dense shade as a house but pretty much complete. I grow french beans (its too exposed to maritime winds for runners) they may not be quite as prolific as in more benign locations - so you need a few more plants. Go for it I've had some degree of success with most things.
