Test Pectin

Just joined and I am very impressed with the things on here. I had great interest on 'Val's Preserves' and fancy trying a few out. However, in each of the recipes she says 'test pectin' how do I do this

Many thanks for your prompt reply Val, will now have a bash at making mint jelly, chilli jelly etc. Have ordered my preserving jars from Lakeland and intend using my heavy pressure cooker pan. Have already got a jelly bag. Can you recommend anything else I may need. I do know the rudiments for making Jellies from my much missed Grannie.
