another greenhouse question

:D  So I thought a nice task for the winter months is to give my new greenhouse some tlc. Is it wise to put the glass in now or wait until spring ?

If there are no broken paynes for the wind to get in and all the clips are tight e.t.c will the glass still break when it gets very windy (mostly every day here  :( ) Greenhouse people's out there what is yours like in winds ?

I will build a slot of staging and I want to build something similar to this if possible out of wood ?. This one was so expensive I though.

First of all, last year we had strong here in spring that took out a couple of greenhouses. If the frame is up, then glaze it, the last thing you want is to have the frame buckle, the glass gives it the strength. If your really concerned then you can always reinforce the clips with silicon, most of our lot do that. Another tip which was passed on to me was to put cross members on the ridge of the roof, these will help to stop any oscillation and double as handy places to store your canes in the winter.

Excellent tip Aidy.

I'm building Frankenstein’s greenhouse (sort of two bolted together) The cross members is an excellent uncomplicated winter job.  That's just what my GH can do with.  Along with some glazing.

I recommend B&Q for Aluminium.  (is that how I stop spelling it?)   I throw the check out staff into turmoil when I hand over a length of it.  I don't think I've ever paid list price!

Don't fancy the silicon job though.  Rotten stuff gets everywhere.

The problem comes from the frame oscillating in the wind and popping your clips, yep doubling up and silicon is two easy ways of securing.
