I made it yesterday. It has a bit of butter in it. There is tons of it (with yummy cavolo nero in it). Is it safe to freeze?

I batch cook things like Cottage Pie which are topped with mashed potatoes that have butter and milk in them and freeze.  They have already been cooked admittedly but I can't see that you'll have problems just freezing ready mashed potatoes. I've also frozen Colcannon.

Yes it's fine, most restuarants that serve Duchesse Potatoes, as in the swirly piped mashed potatoes are Brake Brothers or 365's finest.  My daughter is head chef at a restaurant and 365 turned up with their delivery and found that the loader had'nt turned on the freezer unilt and it had defrosted.  They had to go to Waitrose and get their order and charged it to 365.

Mash freezes just fine. It does go a little dry, so you might want to add some extra butter. Oh and if you try to cook it straight from frozen it takes ages. Best defrosted first, if you can manage that level of organisation and forward planning.
