Hi Stu
What worked for me was arranging to see the site rep and looking keen to her. I had a plot within 3 months. She has the policy of seeing "if people look like a gardener". I'm not sure exactly what this is but showing a bit of intelligent interest helps. Mention that you're not scared of digging.
Self-sufficient in rasberries and bindweed. Slug pellets can be handy.

Hi Stu ...

... I was so lucky with getting my little plot.  Mind you it seemed to grow a bit after I'd signed on the ol' dotted!

Good luck with it tho.

One of the things we do at our site is that if there are people (usually through old age or illness or both) are struggling and need a bit of hand, we organise a bit of a hand for them.  If that happens on your site at all, you could volunteer, help some long standing allotmenter, show willing ... I bet that you'll zip past the queue if you do.

Where are you, Leeky?  If you're in RCT I've got the direct number and email for the allotment bloke.

Keep ringing and if possible find out who the local person is that is responsible..  worked for me..   Put out my feelers and then was able to accidently "bump" into the old boy at the local pub and started nattering to him.  Lets just say it worked..
