Oh and what should I do with them now

They are currently in Pudding basins with lids that are clear plastic.

Want to keep them for Christmas

You don't need to do anything except store where you and the mice will leave them alone

Glad they smelt good, I've been making mincemeat today and that smells even better. I make mincemeat that uses half dried fruit and half apples, it's great for using up the wind falls and it doesn't have any yukky suet in.

 You could eat one pudding now just to test it.

Ooohhh, this is so inspiring! have copied out your recipe, Poolfield (thank you for posting it) and am shopping tomorrow for the ingredients.  Will let know results!

You will never want to go back to bought ones

I went and got 10 more orders when I went and offered tasting samples at my line dancing class and I still haven't made my own Christmas cake yet

My Nan used to make Christmas puds for the family and when she died I kind of took over- no-one ever gave me a basin or offered to  pay for the pudding though, they always asked for one though, cos they liked them  :(
The year we moved here I bought a M & S luxury pud as we had no kithcen to talk of.  Boy was the pudding horrid, we both had a mouthful and threw the rest away
I´ve still to get around to making the pud for this Christmas, I´ll make 2 and then I´ve got one for next year!
I made them in my electric steamer one year, worked out an expensive year, I broke the steamer, don´t think it liked being on for 6 hours!

i just steamed mine on my thermastra it took 8 hours , its the only time i have put the fire on its still quite mild here even on the nights makes me think its going to be a wet summer next year .
how you doing with the euro oliveview its so frustrating watching it go down .
my steamer is just a stove top one but i use it all the time .
we went to a friends house one year out here for Christmas dinner and he did a bought pudding , he asked how long to microwave it so i said depends on the size and will say on the back of the pud , not believing the timings he did it for 8 Min's on high we all gathered round to look at the small dried up pud and had a laugh , his wife said not to worry we have 6 more downstairs but are not as old as that one which was 8 years old , the second one was not nice at all i think it had peaked round about world war one  lol
all the best

Well fruit is happily soaking in the ale but 3 fl oz of ale doesn't look like that much compared to 1.5lbs of fruit.  Sshhh, i added a bit more ale, just a teeny tiny smidgeon....i'm finishing what's left of the ale in a nice shandy hiccup with OH. Botttoms up :drunken:
