How do these upside down tomato planters work and has anyone tried them?

At some stage I followed a link to a website that had these on - thought it came from this site but could be wrong - I'm sure where ever I saw it the person who highlighted it said that hanging  baskets work as well.

Seem to think the site was american but could be completely wrong.

Sorry can't be more specific but it might trigger someone elses memory.

no its a real tomato grown in hanging baskets ... normal toms grow on a tall plant so make tat upside down is hanging folks ,, check T & M for seeds  i am going to be doing some of them this year + what i get from the garden show

it came up as a space saving idea it was used first in commercial dutch houses its not a new idea they used soil  baskets that pulled up on ropes in hot houses so they could get a ground crop and a roof crop .the plants will autonmaticaly lean over the edge if no support is given
