Hi all,
After advise where to get hold of a greenhouse prefare to get as cheap as possible.

If i need to buy a new one where is the best places to look?

Is glass better then plastic? I think so but not sure.

Many thanks

cheapest price I know of would be free.
Have you tried freecycle?
Or advertise for one in your local paper?
how about looking around for one that isn't used, and putting a note through the door?
There are so many "out there" I'd be loathe to part with hundreds or pounds for one....... :D

hi! I was'nt lucky enough to find a second hand greenhouse so bought a Norfolk one with semi rigid panes of plastic. (i couldn't afford glass). :(

Its been good to grow with protection BUT when it's very windy......and thats been quite often this year.....the panes pop out!

So if you can afford glass or get lucky with secondhand then IMO thats definitely the way to go.

It depends on your price range obviously, but Focus DIY seem to have some good deals for a basic glass GH, base extra if you need one though

I found quite a good one last week, If you are willing to spend a £150 extra you could get a very large one with polycarbente glass. But that is if you have the space ? Was it a one for the garden at home or the allotment ?

here it is anyway:

Bit big for me that one!

I was looking at going for glass but whats the best option cost not being an issue? (well it is but long term use will be better).

Also what about the window options and also base / staging etc.....

We have an Elite greenhouse which is the same company as Halls and its great
If you get discount as well that would make it a great buy id say.
We bought as an extra automatic roof window openers which is great.

I would be patient. Watch the paper ads. If you are able to move a greenhouse yourself you are likely to get it for at least a third of the price of new. Even replacing a few panes will still save you a fortune.

I got two greenhouse 8x6 and 6x6 for £50 the pair last month.

why dont mention it?? Because of the chickens, the OH works for them so rock and hard place realy but as needs must and all.

Also I've been looking but so far keep loosing out as a gentleman by me buys them ASAP and then scraps / sells the alluminum and then sells the glass also! Good on him for recycling but bad for me getting hold of one!
