Lack of Comb
« on: October 22, 2008, 18:40 »
Hi,Ive had 2 young Marans for just over 3 months now and they seem to be growing ok but their combs have not started to develop, they are also not laying yet. When I purchased them from a local farm they where quite vague on age of chickens, Im sure they said around 10 weeks.

Is this normal ?

Its perfectly normal for pullets of any breed to have very little comb development at the age yours are.. With Marans, it will be another ten weeks on top of the age you say they are before you notice any appreciable development.
