HI cl.

As long as her comb is good too, and she's showing no signs of being down eg. droped tail, etc, then she's presumably just making you wait to annoy you !
Keep watchign for better advice though :)

If you suspect eggbound, you could check her abdomen for any evidence of a retained egg.

And what a day to be out looking under bushes !

I've kept the hatches battened down today. I dare say she'll present you with a massive egg tomorrow as if to say "What's the fuss about?"

A couple of our Babcocks did this when they started but it all sorted out after a couple of weeks - still going strong and getting 7 or 8 egss a day still from the girls - will have to wait and see if they slow down more over winter.

On a different note ChickenLady - where do you get your feed from? I tend to go to Peterborough Feeds at lunchtimes from work but their organic layers and mixed grain prices have rocketed - £37 for a bag of each last time

We live near Holbeach so if anyone has any other suppliers, please shout!

I've just come round from feinting !! ...£37!! Is that for a huge bag ???

My parents treated us to some Dodson & Horrell non-organic Layers Pellets from Pinchbeck garden centre/Pet store. Usually £7.50/bag but £1 off special offer so they bought 2 bags.

You could try CWG at Stamford. They do their own make but I think there may be an organic version.

Miller that sounds very expensive :!:  Usually a bag of layers will cost from £8 per 20kg bag to about £12-14  per 20kg for organic layers pellets, are you sure you weren't overcharged???

Tell me about it - got invoice as have account with them!  I know damn well what they pay for it as a friend we buy the horse feed buys trade from them but I always forget to ask her to get me some (needs 10 days notice!)

Take it you mean from Bettertack at Pichbeck - do horse stuff as well??

CWG is a bit of a trek but OH often goes out that way with work - I've got tomorrow off so will nip to Bettertack tomorrow (if OH will let me escape - we are upgrading the boiler and putting new rads in    )

I told the girls they'd better lay 2 each a day to cover their keep at Peterborough's prices!

That's the place. I discovered them by accident when we were after purple spray. Their prices aren't bad and they do the usual bedding, etc.

Enjoy your browse. :)
